How we handle your data.

What we collect

We keep data collection to an absolute minimum:

• Restaurant reports: Restaurant name, address, tipping policy, and optional description. Your display name (optional, defaults to "Anonymous").
• Rate limiting: A one-way hash of your IP address is stored temporarily to prevent abuse. We do not store your actual IP address.
• City requests: Requested city and optional email address, if you choose to provide one.
• Analytics: Basic, anonymous page view analytics via Vercel Analytics (no cookies, no personal data).

What we don't collect

• No account registration required
• No email addresses unless you voluntarily submit one
• No cookies for tracking
• No personal data sold to third parties — ever

Third-party services

• Google Maps: Used to display restaurant locations. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Database: Hosted in the US (East).
• Hosting: Edge network with global distribution.

Data retention

Restaurant reports are retained indefinitely as part of the public directory. Rate-limit hashes expire automatically after 24 hours.
